Our Founder at Anant National University to conduct an Upcycling Course to the students there

Upcycling course | Anant National University

March 5, 2022, | Ahmedabad, India.

A course on upcycling was conducted by Akshit Bangar, our Founder and Creative Director for the Sustainable Fashion and Textile Design students at Anant National University, Ahmedabad. The students were involved with creating ensembles from waste materials as a part of this course on upcycling, which is an extension of their module 'Dress and Textile: Handling and Mending'.

Climate change has pushed clothing companies to adopt radical approaches toward waste management, one of which is upcycling. It’s important for the youth, especially those involved in design to be introduced to these ideas.

“In order to solve the climate crisis, we must learn to navigate the path of a circular economy and find ways to repurpose clothes instead of discarding them and use them to their last detail’, said Akshit.

Drawing from his entrepreneurial experience, he apprised students about using design thinking tools and emphasized the importance of storytelling in order to intensify the conversation around sustainable fashion.

"It's empowering to see students being conscious fashion consumers and their zest to promote the same mindset through their work in design," he added.
